Hardware Requirements
Build a reliable booth around gear many operators already own. No proprietary capture box, no special controller stack, and no forced hardware bundle.
Capture Device (Required)
Full capture performance starts with iPhone hardware that can keep up during long event days. Supported Pro devices give Aro Cut the thermal and GPU headroom it needs.
| Device | Chip | Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 16 Pro Max | A18 Pro | ✓ Supported | Best performance, highest thermal headroom |
| iPhone 16 Pro | A18 Pro | ✓ Supported | Full pipeline, excellent thermal profile |
| iPhone 15 Pro Max | A17 Pro | ✓ Supported | Full pipeline supported |
| iPhone 15 Pro | A17 Pro | ✓ Supported | Minimum capture device |
| iPhone 16 / 16 Plus | A18 | Limited | May lack Pro GPU features needed for full pipeline |
| iPhone 15 / 15 Plus | A16 | Not supported | Lacks A17 Pro Metal GPU capabilities |
| iPhone 14 and earlier | A15 / A16 | Not supported | — |

Event Day Setup Tips
Keep the iPhone plugged in
Long events drain the battery fast. A charging cable through the spin arm keeps the phone topped up and reduces thermal throttling risk from low-battery states.
Turn off auto-lock
Set the iPhone display to never auto-lock during events. Aro Cut's kiosk mode (Enterprise) handles this automatically.
Place the iPad sharing station within arm's reach
Local device sync works best within ~10 meters. Keep the iPad sharing station close to the booth so sharing stays smooth.
Don't depend on venue Wi-Fi
AirDrop and local sharing work without Wi-Fi. If the venue provides a network, great — uploads will happen in the background. If not, guests still get their videos.
